Covid-19 cases continue to drop, and many businesses are starting to reopen. Washington State recently entered Phase 3 of the post-Covid reopening plan, bringing us one step closer to normality and properly celebrating our special moments. It’s finally time to celebrate your milestones with your loved ones and your guests. Unlike the execution of the event, however, the event planning process is far from normal, and Covid-related obstacles will remain through the foreseeable future. For instance, do you know if your ideal venue or chosen vendors are back or still in business? If so, are they fully staffed? Does that impact the timing of the event planning? Covid-19’s “side effects” will accompany you in the event planning process, and here are some important things to know and tips for cruising over those hurdles.
If you aim to have your event in 2021, stop procrastinating and start planning your event right away. Due to limited sources and personnel, the planning process (even as we are phasing out of the pandemic) is longer and harder. Failing to start planning will limit your options, and your event will not match your vision.
Some venues are not quite ready to book new events, so they may put a soft hold on your event but will not guarantee the space for you. This can be for many reasons:
- Some venues (and vendors) went bankrupt during the pandemic, so you want to make sure your dream space and favorite DJ are still functioning.
- Other venues and vendors are slower because they haven’t returned to full staff.
- Venues and vendors may still be attending events from 2021 that were postponed due to the pandemic.
